New York City, NY. — SourceOne, a nationally recognized energy consulting firm and a subsidiary of Veolia Energy North America, was named by Crain’s New York Business as a recipient of the “Best Places to Work in New York City,” representing the top 50 businesses in New York City. For the second consecutive year, SourceOne made the list, achieving a ranking of #11, up from last year’s ranking of #42. The recognition reflects SourceOne’s growth nationwide, mirrors significant expansion in its New York City office, and highlights dynamic opportunities for SourceOne staff to work on engineering and energy consulting projects for clients in a number of the City’s most well-known buildings and facilities.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by Crain’s as one of the best places to work in NYC for the second consecutive year. This honor pays tribute to how we operate as a business to both empower our employees and provide value to our clients through our diverse engineering, energy management, and energy efficiency solutions,” said Vincent Martin, President of SourceOne. “In addition to New York City, SourceOne’s NYC office serves the Tri-State region where we continue to help new and current customers address their energy challenges, while supporting their business objectives.”
The SourceOne NYC office, located at 7 Penn Plaza, is committed to employee education, offering tuition reimbursement and encouraging professional growth through industry certifications and courses. In addition, employees have an opportunity to participate in SourceOne hosted educational seminars providing energy and engineering best practices and the latest trends in the energy market. SourceOne Engineers and Energy Specialists have extensive experience in the energy industry, and hold some of the most significant certifications in Energy Engineering.
An example of the work that SourceOne’s New York City team has undertaken includes a multi-year contract with New York Power Authority (NYPA). This project has included energy audits and the installation of recommended efficiency improvements with NYPA customers. Projects range from large public institutions to small facilities, including the Grand Central Terminal, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New York Public Library, the Bronx Zoo and 17 others. Recommended improvements have included steam system repairs, chiller replacements, air handler commissioning, lighting upgrades, energy management, metering improvements, and other energy conservation measures that, when implemented, are estimated to yield over $3 million in annual energy bill savings.
Recipients of the 2012 “Best Places to Work in New York City” were selected based on the results of a weighted survey of both employees and employers conducted by Crain’s New York Business in partnership with Best Companies Group. This is the fifth consecutive year Crain’s has conducted this research to determine the most desirable companies to work for in New York City.
