Boston, MA. — SourceOne, a nationally recognized energy services consultancy and a subsidiary of Veolia Energy North America, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a three-year contract to provide guidance and support for electricity and natural gas procurement for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), the nation’s sixth largest public transit organization. The contract was awarded to SourceOne after a competitive public request for proposal for energy consultant services.
“This collaborative effort with SourceOne is part of SEPTA’s commitment to providing the most efficient and cost-effective services to our customers,” said Frank Gormley, SEPTA’s Operating Budget Director. “We are enthusiastic about our partnership with SourceOne and look forward to a relationship that should further reduce our carbon footprint and reduce utility costs. We see this work as a critical part of our efforts to better service the communities we work in, and the passengers who rely on us for transportation.”
As part of the agreement, SourceOne will provide recommendations on the best practices for energy management to one of the country’s oldest transportation systems, dating back to the deployment of electric trolleys in 1892. SourceOne will work with SEPTA to assist and advise staff on strategies for the purchase and management of all SEPTA utilities, including natural gas, water and sewer (including all storm water issues), electricity, heating oil, and propane. Additionally, SourceOne will evaluate renewable energy credit markets to be used to determine the viability of pursuing different alternative energy projects as required.
“SourceOne is looking forward to partnering with SEPTA to identify cost-effective, energy efficient solutions and to implement them widely for its systems,” said Vincent Martin, President of SourceOne. “As one of the largest transportation organizations in the country, servicing over 2,200 square miles in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, SEPTA is making both a significant impact in improving the region’s environmental sustainability, while demonstrating real leadership to other major transit agencies and to organizations throughout the country.”
SourceOne has established a successful track record across the nation, providing a unique mix of energy services that are focused on efficiency, cost-effectiveness and reliability. The SEPTA project will leverage SourceOne’s extensive expertise in the economics of power delivery and consumption, and water and sewer utilities.
